Funeral Bagpiper

cemetery

I have been piping for funerals, wakes, burial services, and memorial services for eight years. The funeral ceremonies range through many religious denominations and various locations, whether in a house of worship, graveside, or other venue. I also play at homes for the elderly and Hospice homes.

I have played at well over 50 funerals since
I began participating in memorial ceremonies. Every service is new and unique, and I view each one as distinctive to the family and friends of the deceased.

The planning for the event is mostly done over the phone by the church, minister, or a family member to discuss price, music selection, and my part in the service. I am also able to meet with family members and offer selections of music to choose from for the funeral. If the decision of music choice is left to my judgement, then I listen for what the deceased and their family might want to hear. Most tunes are about 3-4 minutes long, but it is common to string together several songs or tunes into a set, or medley, to increase the length of the playing.

The music for each funeral should be as unique and individual as the person that has passed on. Here is a small selection of the most common tunes a bagpiper would play at a funeral:

  • Amazing Grace
  • Danny Boy
  • Highland Cathedral
  • Sky Boat Song
  • Mist Covered Mountains
  • Going Home
  • Auld Lang Syne

The price for a funeral ceremony generally starts at $200. Long distance travel and extra playing time may be an additional cost. We can discuss your needs and make adjustments as necessary.

Highland pipes can be appropriate at any type of funeral, whether it is a cremation or burial. Being a proud and regal sounding instrument they add a wonderful feeling of strength and signifcance to a funeral ceremony. The sound of the bagpipe is the perfect send-off for your loved ones.

Please feel free to ask me any questions in regard to pipe music for your event.

What clients say…

Peter,

My gratitude to you for playing at my grandmother’s funeral is endless. I will forever remember the soul shaking rendition of Amazing Grace. She would have loved it, this was her last wish, and you fulfilled that. Many thanks from my entire family.

Again, thank you so much,

Sincerely,
Samantha

Dear Mr. Watson,

It is with deep gratitude that I thank you for a mystical afternoon when you piped for my husband, Gordon, at Teresa House.

Sincerely,
Verdelle

Dear Peter,

As John’s (illness) progressed… he gave me some guidelines for his final days. One of his wishes was that you play the bagpipes at his funeral. How proud he would have been. You did a splendid job! It was even better than we anticipated. The choice of music and your accompaniment to the Honor Guard made a striking impression.

Bless you,
Lynda & family

Peter,

Thanks again for your beautiful bagpipe music today at my father’s funeral. It certainly helped make the service special & memorable.

Martha
